Online digital photo prints

Quick reviews of the best online photo printing resources I have tried

There are several excellent services that allow you to produce online digital photo prints of your pictures in a range of formats.

In a matter of clicks you can design a pack of personalised Christmas greetings cards. Or produce your very own calendar to see you through the year with familiar, personal images.

You can even tailor make a mounted and framed piece of art from images uploaded through your computer and produced as giclee photo prints.

The suggestions below are based on my experience of the respective companies' speed and quality of product.

Moo.com - personalised cards

Moo.com have a fun, very clear and easy to use website. moo cardsYou upload photos from your computer (or import them from Flickr) and design items with them.

Create personalised thank you cards, personalised Christmas greetings cards, personalised birthday cards, stickers, minicards, business cards, postcards and other accessories.

It takes no time and the site is self-explanatory. I've used Moo a lot (way too much actually!) because the quality is simply fantastic.

They print on heavy, fine art quality cards with a satin lustre finish. The results are impressive and much, much better than the typical stationers store kind of thing. Moo ships globally.

Vista Print - various personalised photo gifts

Vistaprint provide personalised photo gifts in the form of cards, photo bookcalendars and stationery.

They also offer an online tshirt printing service and allow you to print photo books.

Like Moo, they have an easy to use website. I have only used Vista print 4 times (because of all the vouchers I've got from Moo!) but the quality was very good each time.

Personalised calendars and photo books can make really cool gifts, and the ones produced by Vista Print are finished to a decent standard. They have a greater range of products than Moo. Vista Print ship globally.

Online Poster Printing (USA) / My Art Prints (Europe) - poster size photo prints and canvas prints from digital images

Simply upload your photos to these websites to have them produced and shipped as giclee photo prints (fine art prints) within a few days.

These 2 resources are both a great way to order prints online, providing: Simplicity of use, quality of printing and speed of turnaround.

Online Poster Printing can turn your photos into poster size photo prints, canvases, banners and wall stickers. Posters can be rolled or mounted and canvases can be rolled or stretched.

It's immediately obvious how to use their website when you visit it. They use fine art quality materials and can print pieces up to a very large size. Online Poster Printing do ship globally, but turnaround for U.S customers is only 2 to 3 days and shipping is cheaper.

My Art Prints offer thousands of their own images, but also provide the best upload-and-order service for European customers that I know of. They provide professional digital photo prints - mounted, framed, or both, and also produce canvas prints from digital images.

They make it possible to tailor make your piece precisely. You specify the exact size, choose from a range of papers and materials, select from numerous frames and mounting options and see a very clear preview of your piece (which updates instantly on the same screen).

Selecting the right size is made easier by the inclusion of a scale picture of a person next to your image in the preview. You can also choose the background wall colour to preview your picture against.

My Art Prints use fine art, giclee quality materials. They ship globally but are UK based so shipping costs vary.

Have you had success with online digital photo prints from a certain company. I'd love to hear about it, please get in touch here...
